About us
In the UK we are consuming resources at a faster rate than the planet can replenish them. This rate of consumption, particularly in relation to fossil fuels, is a major contributor to climate change. We only have one planet and therefore one choice: to reduce our environmental impact.
Living Space Sciences was formed in response to these concerns by Ian Mawditt, following successful completion of an architectural MSc in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies. Focusing on housing, the sector responsible for producing a third of UK carbon emissions, the company aims to address energy efficiency and environmental concerns.
In the home, space heating accounts for 53% of total household energy use (source DTI), and a large proportion of this valuable energy is unnecessarily wasted. However, whilst home energy conservation is important, the health of the occupants is even more so. Air quality inside the home is of growing concern now that houses are tightly built and pollution is on the increase. Achieving the correct balance between energy conservation and health is essential.
Our company aims to provide advice, not only to ensure that new houses perform as specified, but also that existing homes can be effectively upgraded to improve their energy and environmental performance.
